XV Evolution into the All-New Crosstrek

Subaru’s XV has evolved, with our compact SUV reimagined and rechristened as the all-new, next-generation Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Subaru Crosstrek.

Subaru Crosstrek’s new chapter starts now, for this head-turning, access-all-areas, compact yet highly capable SUV, with customers able to book a test drive now, to experience the next generation vehicle in June.

The all-new Crosstrek features a multitude of the latest infotainment technologies and intuitive safety systems, creating an enjoyable ride for all occupants no matter the destination. The Subaru Crosstrek presents a compact body with a rugged and sporty design with a much bolder exterior than its predecessor. The dynamic styling, which conveys reliability as a crossover SUV, also retains the vehicle’s fun and versatile personality.

Subaru of New Zealand’s Authorised Subaru Centres’ will offer three Crosstrek models for customers to choose from, including two hybrid variants, so you can tread lighter as you Crosstrek around Subaru Country.

The Subaru Crosstrek Premium petrol variant will be powered by a sporty yet refined direct injection 2.0-litre Boxer engine and a Lineartronic® transmission with 8-speed paddle shift manual mode. The two Crosstrek Hybrid variants include a premium specification model and feature a robust Subaru e-Boxer lineartronic transmission with 7-speed manual mode.

Subaru of New Zealand’s Managing Director, Wallis Dumper says: “Eleven years ago Subaru put the best things they have ever done into pioneering the small SUV category, when we introduced the Subaru XV. Now we are creating history again – in an exciting redefinition of the category we created – with the launch of the all-new from the ground up Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Subaru Crosstrek.”

“It might be a small SUV but our Crosstrek still has mighty SUV creds. It can zip through urban streets to your favourite restaurant during the week and then access your hidden fishing spots on the weekend, where you can indulge in an off-the-beaten track, self-service menu.”

“The Subaru Crosstrek features 220mm of ground clearance which is what separates it from most of its ‘pretender’ SUV competitors. Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system then propels the Crosstrek into a different capability realm compared to its ‘townie’ rivals.”

“Driver confidence is further underpinned by the Subaru Global Platform, with a refined inner frame that increases cabin strength and delivers a quieter and more comfortable ride.”

“Crosstrek owners can expect an engaging yet refined driving experience in an SUV that’s capable of tackling almost any driving adventure you choose with utter confidence, comfort and convenience. If you enjoy driving, then this Subaru Crosstrek is a great choice,” Mr Dumper says.

The vehicle cockpit has received an array of welcomed enhancements to increase user-friendliness, including, for the first time in a Subaru vehicle, the ultimate convenience of wireless smartphone Qi charging §.

Additional new features include but are not limited to:

  • 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity
  • Wireless Phone Charging
  • Digital Multi View Monitor – 360-degree camera

The Crosstrek is the first Subaru model to debut the Digital Multi-View Monitor, which is essentially a bird’s eye view camera. Images from four separate cameras are used to create a 360-degree, 3D top-down view, improving visibility on all sides of the vehicle. These images are displayed using the new-and-improved centre information display, which offers larger and more detailed images than previous multi-function displays for greater ease of use and viewability.

Every Subaru Crosstrek variant will feature smart key and push-start ignition, LED headlights (dusk-sensing), roof rails, power-folding door mirrors and 11.6 inch infotainment touch screen.

Continuing Subaru’s commitment to safety, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek contains the latest generation EyeSight® clever crash avoidance technology. It features an improved stereo camera and the addition of a new Wide-Angle Monocular Camera. This newly adopted mono camera enables recognition of motorcycles and pedestrians at an even wider angle when traveling at low speeds. It can initiate pre-collision braking in a greater range of situations and provides the best EyeSight® performance ever.

Crosstrek’s latest generation EyeSight® also adds:

  • Speed Sign Recognition
  • Lane Centring function
  • Wider field of view

Furthermore, the addition of a Driver Monitoring System – Driver Focus (DMS)* offers another layer of safety, as well as convenience, to help reduce the chance of accidents. Whilst the inclusion of 9 SRS† airbags means the Subaru Crosstrek is well-equipped in the event of a collision.
